Putting a fire pit under a pergola is not as difficult as you might think. Building codes for fire pits differ from place to place, so be sure to check with your local building code.
The first step is to clear away any dry wood from the ground in the area that will be the location of your fire pit. You will need an area at least 3 feet in diameter for the base of your fire pit. You should save any dry wood that you don't clear away, because you will need it during the construction of the frame around your pit.
You should also draw a 10-foot radius circle on the ground just inside the perimeter of where you have cleared away all debris. This is where you will construct your pergola structure.
In some cases, adding a fire pit to a pergola does not take that much work.
The main idea is that when you have an area built already, it may be easier to add something like a fire pit. For example, if you are looking for something that can make your backyard perfect for entertaining and grilling.
