BEST PORTABLE PROPANE FIRE PITS

I have been shopping for portable propane fire pits and I have found my new toy.

When we go camping or have a backyard campfire, I like sharing what I learned while finding my fire pit and why I think it is the best on the market.

I have just recently become interested in camping and RVing. I soon found I couldn't count on that wood fire pits would be available whenever I decided to stop, so I started looking at alternatives and what other people were using to do a campfire.

The first thing you need to know about any outdoor cooking device is how much fuel you need. The amount of time you want to spend around the fire should also play into this decision. If you are going out overnight, you may not need anything more than an open flame with some kindling wood nearby. However, if you plan on spending several hours around the fire, then you'll probably want something more significant.

There were many uncertainties when using a traditional wood fire pit: would there be usable wood available, what if the wind picked up, what if there were ants where the fire pit was? All unforeseeable problems, but all possible.

With a portable propane fire pit, these worries disappear because you bring your own fuel instead of having to find wood. Since most propane tanks hold 20 gallons, you will know how long your fire will last before going out.

Another nice thing about gas fire pits is that you can shut it off and dowse the embers and your fire is out. You will still want to check any embers or coals to make sure they are completely cooled.

What To Look For When Shopping For A Portable Propane Fire Pit

I asked campers and RVers about propane fire pits to learn what was important when buying a portable propane pit. I try to be thorough, and this is what I found.

After talking with many experienced propane fire pit users, I feel confident that these fire pits are the best on the market.

Criteria I used in evaluating these portable propane fire pits:

Safety features - Elevated fire pits, those with legs, are the safest. The added height is more convenient to work with, but the space underneath protects the surface supporting the unit. Most modern fire pits are incredibly safe, especially true of fire pits fueled by gas or gel fuels, as neither type uses combustible wood chips or logs, an important element with current fire restrictions.
Portability -
Construction Material - The material used in the construction of the fire pit will determine the durability, the products' weight, and portability. The best material you can use is stainless steel. A fire pit made of steel can be a very durable fire pit, and it is rust-free. Copper is another choice but can be expensive. A practical alternative would be a cast iron fire pit, which is heavy.
Ease of use - cleaning, lighting, flame control, changing tank & hose length
Heat output - Things to consider are the BTU output, the size of the burner pan, plate, or grate.
Affordability - Price - A higher price doesn't equal a better product.
Size- Size is the most important decision when considering a fire pit. You want one small enough to be mobile and packable, but something large enough to fit people around comfortably.
Value for money - I hate the feeling of "buyer's remorse" with a purchase that doesn't meet my needs. When evaluating these portable fire pits, put some thought into the many ways you might use them and what are your expectations,
Warranty- Having a good warranty and knowing who is responsible for fixing anything that might go wrong is essential.
Extra features - Another factor to consider is whether it has an adjustable height.
Ignition - The most common type of ignition for gas-powered fire pits is still using manual ignition, a match, or bbq lighter. Some models come with automatic ignition or a push spark ignition like many BBQs.
Cover or carrying case - a convenient cover and helps keep things clean and together. Some protection will reduce the wear and tear on your pit.
Lid or no lid- If you're going to be traveling much with your fire pit and want to be able to easily stash it away in a car, RV, or truck, then a lid will make it much more manageable.
